Kit at a glance

Tamar's Georgia peaks in golden ages: dedications hit harder for her, Tsikhe walls bank faith, and combat victories pay faith. A faith-and-era-score game that compounds each golden age into the next.

Opening: the first 60 turns

Georgia's opening is an era-score hunt disguised as a normal build. Scout first, then Warrior, Settler, Settler, and use the scout aggressively for tribal villages, natural wonders and first-contact points before turn 40. Astrology is the first tech so the capital can start a Holy Site on a mountain or river position; Mining and Bronze Working follow, and Masonry is not urgent because Tsikhe replaces Renaissance Walls, not Ancient Walls. Civics run Foreign Trade into Political Philosophy, with Mysticism grabbed on the way for the Great Prophet points. The goal by turn 60 is a pantheon, a Holy Site with a Shrine, and enough era score to land a Golden Age at the classical transition, because Monumentality in that first Golden Age is what funds the real expansion wave.

How to play it

Chase era score deliberately — golden ages are your multiplier, and Monumentality with Georgia's faith is a famous expansion engine. Build Tsikhe in every city and champion city-states for envoys and loyalty.

Victory paths

Religion is the primary road and it is unusually pleasant to walk. Georgia's Golden Age dedications stack both bonuses, so the Monumentality age buys settlers and builders with faith while the religious spread still runs, and Tsikhe walls later top up the faith income in every city. Envoys to city-states following her religion count double, which makes diplomacy the second path: Tamar reaches six envoys in half the effort, collects suzerainties across the map, and the diplomatic favor those bring accumulates toward a Diplomatic Victory that most religious civs never approach. Wars in defense of those city-states are not a distraction either, since her combat victories pay faith. Culture is possible through the faith-purchased Great People route, but a pure science or domination attempt wastes everything special about her.

Synergies: city-states, wonders, policies

Religious city-states are the priority suzerainties. For governors, Moksha in the Holy Site capital accelerates apostles and Amani spread across two or three city-states protects the doubled-envoy investments. Policy cards follow the standard religious spine — God King early, Scripture, then Simultaneum — but Charismatic Leader and Diplomatic League deserve a slot for the envoy economy, and Praetorium keeps the wide empire loyal. Pantheon choice depends on terrain; Religious Settlements accelerates the expansion Golden Age, while Earth Goddess on a mountain-heavy start turns Tsikhe cities into faith engines. Statue of Zeus and Mont St. Michel are the two thematically aligned wonders, and the Golden Age also makes Pen, Brush and Voice or Free Inquiry attractive whenever religion is already secured.

Weaknesses and counters

Everything depends on actually entering Golden Ages, and a player who falls into a Dark Age in the classical era loses the whole expansion window; Georgia is punished for a slow scout more than any other civ. The military kit is entirely defensive — Khevsur fight well in hills, Tsikhe make cities hard to crack — so neighbors can safely ignore her and out-grow her, and she has no tool to stop a science civ from simply winning. Religious victories are also easily contested by a second religion founder next door with a stronger spread kit. Against Tamar, deny her city-states by conquering them, which removes the doubled envoys and the faith source at once. The common mistake is spending the Golden Age dedication on Exodus of the Evangelists before the empire has enough cities to convert.
